Helicopter Remote Viewing System

HD Camera and Rugged Airborne Monitor

Rugged Video offers a complete remote viewing system designed for Aerial Firefighting, Long Line Operators, and Search & Rescue.

The Remote Viewing System was developed specifically to minimize latency which allows real time control of a sling, cargo hook, or hoist through a remote camera and monitor.  A Rugged Aluminum HD monitor is paired with our micro-HD bullet camera to improve situational awareness and is ideal for situations where the pilot has an obstructed view.

Airborne Remote Viewing Systems and Airborne Cameras are currently used in:

  • Eurocopter AS350
  • Bell 206
  • Bell 407
  • AgustaWestland AW109
  • AgustaWestland AW101
  • Robinson R44
  • Robinson R66
  • MD500

Components

The package consists of all items needed for a complete viewing system, including: Aluminum 6.9″ HD Monitor, High Definition Camera, Cabling, Power Supply, and Mounts.  Connections for power and cable lengths are customized for your airframe with a number of mounting options for the camera and monitor as well.

Monitor

The LED monitor is high definition and high brightness with a rugged design and aluminum frame. A wide viewing angle and crisp picture make it ideal for airborne applications. The monitor is 6.9” diagonal screen size.  An optional hood is included to reduce glare from direct sunlight.

The HD19 is the Smallest HD bullet camera on the market at 19mm (0.750″) in diameter, and just 72mm(2.8″) long.  The HD19 features a 2.1 megapixel Panasonic CMOS sensor and powerful DSP, producing impressive results from such a small camera.

High Performance

The HD19 offers full 1080p60 HD with a latest generation Eyenix DSP, featuring; Wide Dynamic Range, 2D and 3D digital noise reduction, and an advanced automatic gain control algorythm for shooting great video out-of-the-box in nearly any lighting situation.  Video is output via the SMPTE 424M 3G-SDI or  292M HD-SDI standards.

Rugged & Waterproof

Housed in a machined aluminum enclosure, the HD19 is IP67 rated for submersion up to 1 meter, making it tough enough to handle any weather condition.  The HD19 is an ideal low maintenance solution for mounting outside the cockpit.

Flexible

A powerful DSP allows users to adjust settings such as; resolution and frame rate, shutter speed, white balance, back-light compensation, wide dynamic range, gain level, noise reduction, as well as: flip, mirror, or rotate the image.  A wide range of standard M12(S-mount) lenses allows users to choose nearly any field of view.

Mounts

Each system includes two pedestal mounts and your choice of premium mount. These mounts allow for a number of mounting options universal to any airframe.

Premium Mount Options

  • Big Mite – Aluminum Airborne Mount
  • Mini Mite – Aluminum Airborne Mount
  • Ultra Clamp – Clamping Airborne Mount
  • Locking Suction Mount – Portable/Temporary Mount

Cabling and Power Supply

Cabling consists of a regulator to power both the monitor and camera using aircraft power and accepting any voltage source 10-36VDC. The Camera power cable is an M27500 Tefzel braided shield aircraft grade cable. The video signal cable is a braided shield coax M17/94 RG-179 series.  All cables are stong, light weight, and comply with FAA requirements for low smoke and fire propagation.
